Begej
Mined Land Reclamation Division
1313 Sherman
Denver, CO 80203
Mined Land
Reclamation D~v~crn-,
Dear Ms. Begej:
We have become aware of an additional serious reclamation problem with regard
to the West pit. The copy of our letter to Harrison Western outlines the lack
of clean water diversion from the West pit, and that there is a 300 to 400
acre watershed that the ephemeral creek drains. A 10 year, 24 hour
precipitation event would over fill the existing sediment pond.
We have a few other questions:
1. What happened to the permit that the Harrison Western applied for as
referenced in the bond documenC?
2. Was there a variance requested to delay contemporaneous reclamation
for the West pit pursuant to 2.06.7?
3. Did Harrison Western furnish a reclamation map for their application
for phase I bond release?
4. Did Harrison [,'estP.rn furnish a pond certification for their
application for phase I bond release?
5. Did Harrison Western have a drill exploration permit and bond for
their drilling program?
6. Was the West pit considered an alluvial valley floor?
Sincerely,
~~` ~~
W.D.
