Colorado 80202-5733
June 15, 1995
Ms. Susan McCannon
Coal Program Supervisor
Division of Minerals and Geology
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203
Dear Ms. McCannon:
JUN 16 1995
[]IVIS1011 ui r,linc~ai5 ~. C;eo109Y
Thank you for your letter dated June 6, 1995, explaining the
results of the Division's further review of the water well issue
which was alleged violation number two of Ten Day Notice X-93-
020-370-005-TV-3, for Basin Resources, Inc., the Golden Eagle
Mine, permit number C-81-013.
As described in your letter, the Division conducted further
investigations into possible impacts to the livestock windmill
water well owned by Jim and Ann Tatum, located near Weston,
Colorado. As a result of these further investigations the
Division found that it is likely the water level in the well was
influenced by the adjacent underground workings and exhaust
shaft. However, the water well was not in use at the time the
permit application was prepared and therefore it was not included
in the permit. You also determined that the operator took
measures to minimize hydrologic impacts in the area of the well.
I find that your investigation and conclusions as reported in
your June 6, 1995, letter constitute appropriate action in
response to the second alleged violation relating to water loss
in Ten Day Notice X-93-020-370-005-TV-3.
Sincerely,
Jc~ ~ .
James Fulton
Denver Field Manaqer
