Mined Land ReclaTiiation
July 13, 1982
• Page 2
The maximum depth of mining will be approximately 20 feet
I do not feel there will be a need for any elaborate
sedement control structure. The drainage area that
effects the mining is the 40 acre plateau of which only
a small portion will be without vegetation at any one
time. Any drainage problem that occurs will be correct-
ed with small burros and ditching.
In regards to the access road culvert, I do not feel
that it is necessary. The access road does cross a
dry stream bed, but any drainage has been controlled
by an earthen dam located upstream from the road cros-
sing. In the three years I have been familiar with the
property I have never seen any water in the stream bed
nor has the access road ever had any washing problem.
5. Reclamation Plan: It is the plan to leave all slopes
no greater t an 3 to 1 and the SCS recommendation re-
garding tilling, fertilizer and mulch will be followed.
Your recommendation to plant in early spring and add
Four Wing Saltbush and Winterfat to the seed mixture
will be followed.
6. Reclamation Plan Ma I am submitting a new map that will
s ow t e ina topography clearly.
7. Reclamation Costs: I agree with your evaluation of the re-
c amation costs. It is anticipated that there will never
be over 15 acres open at any one time and approximately
2 the 15 acres will be under some stage of reclamation.
I propose that a $20,000 Reclamation Bond be provided
so that there will be more than sufficient protection.
8. Proof of Publication: Enclosed is the proof of publication
an proo o a copy eing sent to the adjacent landowner.
I appreciate your assistance and cooperation in this matter.
Please let me know if any other information is needed.
Sincerely,
Vi/ce Pre ent
~i~
JK/ps
ends .
