My concerns with the proposed gravel mine is its'
impact on fishing and floating this section of river.
Will the transport of grovel across the river stop our use of the river or con
this crossing of the river be done in a manner that is compatible with river
recreation? My concern is that the proposed operation will kill fish and stop
seasonal migrations of the brown and rainbow trout populations that
currently move back into the upper river at the end of the irrigation season.
On the new application for this gravel mine expansion Fnrnsworth's attached
a Colorado Depnrtment of Health letter dated January 24, 1994, that states
that no discharge of mine water off-site will occur. At a meeting on
February 18, 2002 Farnsworth's stated the new quarry will pump all water
from the new pond /quarry site directly into the river. This creates n
great concern for the fisheries as well as downstream water quality.
I feel these issues need to be addressed, not only for my personal concerns
but also in terms of the future of river recreation and it's potential
economic value to our valley.
Sincerely, /~` 1~~, „
Michael P.
