' Banks and Gesso, LLC
' approximately 740,000 cubic yards of topsoil and overburden during the mining
' process. In addition, approximately 470,000 cubic yards of clay material within
the alluvium will be salvaged from the new mining areas. Approximately 640,000
'
cubic yards of backfill will be required to slope the near-vertically mined pit walls.
' The topsoil requirement as plant-growth medium for the disturbed surface
acreage will be approximately 110,000 cubic yards to cover the perimeter of the
'
reservoir and other disturbed areas at 12 inches deep. The amount of topsoil
' required for surface reclamation as plant-growth medium is minimal compared to
' the amount that is available.
Topsoil Preservation
' The location of the topsoil stockpiles will be within the permit area and located
along the western property boundaries. Typical topsoil berm locations can be
' seen on Exhibit C-3. These locations will minimize impacts to the floodplain, as
' well as reduce noise and visual impacts to the neighbors.
' Topsoil stockpiled in berms for later use in revegetation will be placed on a stable
surface within the permit area and will be clearly marked. These topsoil
stockpiles will be protected with temporary revegetation from disturbances
' associated with the mining operation and from wind and water erosion,
compaction and other disturbances that would reduce its capability to support
permanent reclamation vegetation. The operator will be required to maintain
i
l b
i
d
only as much topsoil in storage for surface reclamation as w
l
e requ
re
to

Brighton Mine Conditional Use Permit 29 20007WD
' CAMAS Colorado, INC.
