•

•
4
WFC has selected a longratll set-up consisting of American Longwell shields, a
Soy Shearer and a Guilich-Dobson face conveyor. Typical panels will be 600' in
width and range in length from 6,000' to 11,500'. The main and submain
development entries and the panel entries will use entry spacings nominally at
100 feet center-center. Entry widths are 16-17 feet and entry height,
approximately one-half foot less than the coal thickness, the top coal being
necessary to control the air-sensitive roof.
Transportation of the mined coal from the face to the surface will be via the
present conveyor system, which rill be extended as needed. Once on the
surface, the coal is crushed in a Bradford breaker and truck hauled to the
preparation plant at the adjacent New Elk Mine (old Allen mine) three miles to
the west. There it is either washed or shipped raw, depending on contract
specifications and/or out of seam dilution.
A list of major mining equipment at the Golden Eagle mine is as follows:
Continuous Miners
Roof Bolters
Shuttle Cars
Feeder Breakers
Rock Dust Equipment
Chocks
Stage Loader
Supply Cars - Rails
Auxiliary Fana
Crawler Tractors
Longwell Miner
Belt Drives, Tail Pieces
Man Trips
Loading Machines
Shearer
Face Cotrv eyor
Supply Locomotives -Rail
Electrical Power Centers
Maintenance Vehicles
End Dump Trucks
6 Assoc. A four entry headgate and three entry tailgate have also been
driven to the northwest across the tract to serve ae the gateroads for the NW 1
panel just north of the Purgatory Valley.
