RULE 2.05.6 MITIGATION OF THE IMPACTS OF MINING OPERATIONS:
9) Text in this section refers to the Huntington and Crawford irrigation ditches that are depicted on Map C-
3. Please label these ditches on Map C-3 and indicate the sections of [he Crawford Ditch which are
lined with PVC.
10) The last paragraph on page 2.05.6-2 indicates that the Mark Crawford and John Crawford residences
could suffer damages due to subsidence, however, there are no studies indicating what the structures are
and what condition they aze in. Additionally, no mention of how these two sites get drinking water nor
how the effects of subsidence might disrupt this service. Please update this section to include how this
service may be restored/compensated if service is interrupted.
11) The Division will require an inspection of both the John and Mark Crawford residences and other
structures located on their property similar to a "Pre-Blast Survey" that is done for residences that are
nearby to surface coal mining operations.
MAPS:
12) Please update Map C-3 as stated above and verify the following maps are current and if not, please send
new copies to [he Division.
C-5 Soils & Vegetation, June 1995 C-6 Soils, April 1980
C-7 Reclamation, June 1997 C-9 Geologic Cross Section, Febmary 1997
C-12 Pine Gulch Crossing, Nov 1989 C-15 Hydrologic Cross Section, February 1997
Section V -Bonding Summary
The Division is in receipt of Irrevocable Letter of Credit No. 444 in the amount of $120,000.00
issued by the First National Bank of Durango for the reclamation performance bond at the King
Coal Mine. The performance liability for the site has been calculated at $109,723.00. The actual
reclamation cost at this time is less than the estimate due to the mine removing some obsolete
structures since this estimate was prepared.
Midternt Review -King Coa!
