Lamm
Governor
May 13, 1965
Mr. John Walters
Salt Creek Mining Company
P.O. Drawer L
Fruita, Colorado 81521
Re: Notice of Intent to Explore Federal Coal Lease C-0125515
in Garfield County, Colorado
Dear Mr. Walters:
The Division has reviewed the Salt Creek Mining Company Notice of Intent to
Explore Federal Coal Lease C-0125515 in Garfield County, Colorado this
Sumner. Pursuant to Rule 2.02.2 the Division must make three determinations
regarding completeness, substantial disturbance, and nature of the exploration
project.
Accordingly, the Division finds that:
1. The proposed exploration drilling project, submitted under the title
"Notice of Intent to Explore Federal Coal Lease C-0125515 in Garfield
County, Colorado", will substantially disturb the natural land surface (as
defined by Rule 1.04(127).
2. The proposed exploration drilling project qualifies as a coal exploration
activity and not surface coal mining operations.
Review of the Notice of Intent indicates the following additional
information will be required.
3. Additional detail of erosion control methods for the unreclaimed portion
of the exploration access road is needed.
4. The applicant needs to detail haw crossings of drainages will be made to
minimize erosion.
5. The seeding rate for broadcast seeding appears to be too low. It is
suggested that the seeding rate be increased to at least 20 lbs/ac. for
broadcast seeding.
6. In the event aquifers are encountered the applicant will need to seal the
drill holes in accordance with Rule 4.07. The applicant should commit to
this requirement.
423 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203 Tel. (303) 866-3567
~~I I~~I~~I~~~~~~ I~~
sss
