Photo /{1 is an identification
photo of an abandoned change house. This is the eastern most of the three
buildings. The building is in an advanced state of disrepair, it appears to have
been unused for many years. Most of the windows are broken and the interior is
littered with refuse. An aluminium trailer is attached to the south side of this
two story building, it too is in an advanced state of disrepair. The interior of
this structure was not inspected as it is abandoned.
The second structure, Photo I/2, is a well house. The well is labeled;
Wise Hill //9 Well
Permit Numbers: 22100-F
Aquifer: Twenty Mile Sandstone
Court Case Number: None
The structure is aluminum sided with no apparent foundation. Photo //3 shows the
south face of the structure (Photo //2 is of the north face). The interior of the
well house is plywood and the well, pressure tank and various plumbing fixtures
are visible. The floor is plywood set on 4 x 4" timbers. The condition of the
structure is generally poor.
The third structure is an old maintenance shed that currently houses a security
force that is guarding the Empire Mine property as the mine is on strike. Photo
//9 is an identification photo of the structure looking SE. The structure is
plywood sided with a corrugated aluminium roof set on a concrete slab. The
building appears to be in fair condition. Photo //4 is of the SW corner of the
building and shows the need for paint. None of the foundation is visible from the
exterior due to snow against the structure. Photo !{5 shows the west face of the
building and the condition of the window frames and exterior siding. Photos //4
and /{5 show the typical condition of all sides of the structure. There are four
doors on the west side of the building. Rotating onto the north face, two windows
on this face, the east window is shuttered. The east face of the building is
similar in condition to the above photos, an aluminium trailer is attached to the
SE corner of this structure, Photo //6.
Access to the majority of the western most building was denied as the security
guards housed in the building were sleeping at the time of the inspection. The
one room of the building that was inspected was described as typical of the
Page - 1 -
