Box 225
Florence, Colorado 81226
Decemher 10, 1981
RE: Reclamation and Reseeding Plan for Southeast Slope
Dear Li:
5. ...
I would propose on the southeast slope that the two contour furrows
that. are present be changed in the following manner: They be conver-
ted to a contour level basin with an 8 foot flat bottom with 2 foot
high berm on the outside edge or down hill side of the basin. Beginning
at the lower basin at the rock spillway for the existing ditch, the
level basin will continue nn around the hill and end where it will be
feasible to tie in to the soil pile that will eventually be reclaimed.
Another level basin will be installed above at the approximate location
' of the existing water course. The purpose of these two basins are to
retain the moisture that falls in the immediate area and prevent
excessive erosion problems down the steep hillsides. The bottoms of
the basins will be seeded with the recommended mixtures. This area
.would also be a good area to plant trees with an approximate 40 foot
. spacing.
_ ','The remaining areas above and below the level basins could be partially
-~'.'~..reseeded with a hydro-seeder. It would be very difficult and dan-
gerous to use machinery on those slopes as they now exist.
The time schedule for the above steep slope reclamation will be com-
pleted no later than January 25, 1982 weather permitting.
Si pcerely,
~.
