Facilities have not been
constructed and topsoil and overburden removal activities
have not been initiated, therefore reclamation of surface
disturbances are not required.
This request is the result of a change in the mining plan at
the Seneca II Mine as discussed with you and members of your
staff on January 27, 1988. As soon as the final decision
regarding the use of a single dragline at the Seneca Mine is
made, I will provide you with an anticipated date for
resumption of operations at Seneca II-W and a modified
mining plan, if appropriate.
Environmental monitoring activities will continue as
specified in Permit C-82-057. Changes will not be made in
the monitoring program unless the proper consultation with
your agency has been undertaken. It is our understanding
that the permit may be reactivated upon letter request
should additional drilling activities become necessary.
If you or your staff have any questions regarding this
matter, do not hesitate to contact me .,.
ectfully,
~I ~~ ~''
Gary L/ ~'ielvin
Senior~yianager
Environmental Affairs
bd
