Review: "Ironclad Mill Tailings; Results of Cyanide Detox"
Memo to B. Keffelew, June 27, 1994
Page 6
u
2. Given that there is a surface water quality standard for total cyanide, the model should
be run for that component as well.
3. The model should be run for all regulated metals, both for surface water and
groundwater.
4. The model should show what volumes of water will be discharged to the groundwater,
as well as to surface water, and the concentrations of regulated components should be
determined.
5. The values for pH of the leachates using MWMP testing are higher than could be
discharged.
6. Chloride will be introduced to the environment as a result of weathering of the Ca-
hypochlorite treated tailings. The model should consider what surface water and
groundwater standards will need to be met, and must demonstrate compliance at the
compliance points.
cc: Brvice Humphries
Jim Pendleton
Carl Mount
Bill York-Ferro
M: \MIN\CCFECLAD.
