Study Plan, Rito Seco 4
GEOLOGY
During work plan development sufficient investigations of dike and
floodway sites will be made to assure accurate estimations of soil
stability. Several test holes will be drilled with a power auger along
proposed alignments. Represnetative soil samples will be collected for
laboratory analysis. A brief examination of foundation conditions will
be made at each of the proposed erosion control structures.
SEDIMENTATION
An erosion and sediment damage map will be prepared for the watershed.
Sediment storage requirements will be computed for the proposed erosion
control structures. Estimates of future sediment and erosion damage
will be estimated from data to be collected on past damages in the
watershed.
SOILS
The soil survey for Costilla County, Colorado is not complete. Soil
surveys of the watershed area will be conducted.
INPUTS TO BE MADE BY OTHER AGENCIES
A. U.S. Forest Service
The U.S. Forest Service will prepare a fire control program for the
watershed, and also a land treatment program for watershed protec-
tion on the forest land.
B. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will prepare a Reconnais>ance
Report on the Rito Seco watershed under the Fish and Wildlife
Coordination Act.
LOST ESTIMATE
The attached table summarizes the estimated man-days and cost inputs,
and schedule for developing the work plan. ,
