J • • ~ .
Stipulation N14: Annual revegetation monitoring program. MLRD proposed that
monitoring include the following: 3-5 cover transects, 2-3 representative
production quadrats, one representative woody plant density transect, and a
discussion of diversity trends. WRD will be proposing a program. Additionally,
MLRD will be evaluating the requirement for annual monitoring at Munger Canyon
and biennial monitoring at McClave Canyon.
Response: We propose monitoring the progress of revegetation at the
Munger Canyon Mine on an annual basis. Each year, five cover transects
of the same technical description used in the baseline studies l50 m
length, 50 point intercepts) will be placed subjectively in each vegeta-
tion type. Likewise, five production quadrats, 1 m2 in area, will be
placed subjectively in each vegetation type. One 1 m x 50 m woody plant
density quadrat will be located subjectively in each vegetation type.
The subjective criterion for sampling location will be "representative-
ness" of general conditions. If grossly variable conditions exist, samples
will be located to illustrate this variation.
-~-
