The present landowners, Cottonwood Land Company, were given the status of the pit and the
process needed to be taken to either gain the reQuired lease access for crushing or access for
reclamation. Cottonwood and Routt County are in the process of establishing a lease for crushing.
Although Routt County has not crushed in the past few years we do have documentation of crushing in
2001. I have attached the paperwork showing this action. Routt County is aware of the 180 lapse of
work in this pit, but assures you, the DMG, that we are trying to regain access to crush again in the
near future. I will informyou of our progress in the weeks to come.
If crushing commences, highwalls will not be in place at the end of the project.
Ifyou have any Questions, at this time, please do not hesitate to call. Again, I hope that we can come
to an agreement soon with the landowner and Routt County can be well on our way to compliance with
your department.
Sincer ly
Z
Heather McLaughlin
Assistant County Engineer
