Question 10) Is the Earth Science heap leach pad completely reclaimed? What vas done to the
site?
BMRI completed the following reclamation activities in spring of 1995. Tl~e ore material
was removed for reprocessing and the entire area was then graded, topsoiled, and reseeded.
BMRI will be responsible for monitoring and any further reclamation which may be
necessary until the bond has been released in accordance with the applicable CMLRB
regulations.
Question 1 1) What plan do you have for erosion control afrer you are gone? Who will be in charge
of maintaining this erosion control?
The reclamation plan for the facility is specified in Exhibit E of the Approved Permit.
Following completion of reclamation activities in accordance with that plan, BMR[ will
continue monitoring the site until 2006 at which time we believe that veg~:tation will be
sufficiently established to adequately minimize erosion from the site. In any event BMRI
will provide for continued erosion control as necessary, until reclamation is complete and the
site is formally released from CMLRB bond liability in accordance with the applicable
regulations.
Question 12) How long will the fences stay up and who will maintain them?
BMRI believes that fencing is necessary and desirable during the reclamation phase of
operations as a measure to discourage adverse grazing impacts to newly revegetated areas.
Following completion of reclamation and release of bonds, decisions regarding future
fencing will be made by the landowner as needed to support the use of the land. Similarly,
fence maintenance will be the responsibility of the landowner.
Question 13) After BMG is gone, what stmctures and changes to the original area will remain on
the site?
Under the currently approved reclamation plan, all mine facility related structures would be
removed from the site and the azea would be regraded to the approved post r..ining contour.
Please refer to the Exhibit E of the Approved Perini[ for more detailed information regarding
site reclamation requirements.
Question 14) Who will be available to answer our on-going questions as they arise as the shut-
down continues and afterwards?
BMRI's current plans aze to retain an on-site management capability for at east two years
following closure in 1997. Based upon the circumstances existing at tha. time a future
decision would be made concerning site management and communication requirements.
