Mr. Conroy asked ;lbout the "toxic
spill" at the San Luis mine site. I told Mr. Conroy that the amount of cyanide that was released
into the environment as a result of the leak in the tailings disposal pipeline was estimated at
.03 lbs. I also informed Mr. Conroy that all of the contaminated soil was excavated and disposed
of in the tailings facility and that the site was restored to original containment conditions.
Mr. Conroy said that "this does not appear to be a major problem and only warcants a couple of
sentences in the paper."
JD/bjw
\eIw\SnnLU~s.1D
