~~
TECHNOLOGIES
A DMSION OF TETRA TECH RJC.
September 27, 2005
Mr. Jim Stazk
Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
RE~E~VED
6178 South Stra[ler Street
Murtay, UT 84107
Office 801.269.8117
Fax 801.269.8308
SEi' 2 8 2005
Division of Minerals and Geology
Subject: Co1lomPermitArea
Coal Analysis Protornl
(Maxim Project Number 5520068)
Deaz Mr. Stazk,
~,~,_ fi,r.< ,ern
. ~~..rr
~~'~". .1
Division ~t Minerals aad Geology
At the request of Tay Tonozzi of Colowyo Coal Company (Colowyo), I am writing to request your
concurrence with Colowyo's plans for analysis of coal core samples collected from the Collom, Lower
Wilson and South Taylor project areas. Colowyo is proposing to analyze the coal samples for total sulfur
and organic sulfur forms and not for pyrite and marcasite. The spacing of core holes for these analyses
will be one hole per square mile, with a minimum of three holes per project azea.
This proposal is based on a request made by Colowyo during a conference call on March 2, 2005 between
Byron Walker of your office and Crellin Scott, Tay Tonozzi, and Alex Papp of Colowyo. Byron Walker
subsequently gave verbal approval of the request in a March 3, 2005 conversation with Crellin Scott. The
issue discussed in the Mazch 2 and 3 calls was the chemical constituents that need to be analyzed for each
coal seam in the proposed mining areas of Collom and Lower Wilson. By this Letter, we are extending the
request to include the South Taylor area. The similarity of physical conditions in the three proposed
mining azeas warrants similar treatment, and similar treatment also will avoid possible confusion in
handling of the coal core samples.
If you have any questions regarding this transmittal, please feel free to contact me at (970} 304-0140 or
(307) 259-7824 or Tay Tonozzi at (970) 824-1579. I would request that any written response to this letter
be directed to Tay.
Respectfully Submitted,
Maxim Technologies
A DNISION OF TETRA TECH, INC.
~~
Keith Thom son ~~~
P
Project Manger
Cc: Tay Tonozzi
