Attached is the technical review
done by our staff chemist Harry Posey, in which DMG's concerns are described in detail. Prior to making comment
on the possibility of backfilling the Joker Mine site with ore treated with these processes, DMG will require the
issues listed in the attachment to be clarified.
Two of the issues outlined in Mr. Posey's review require further comment. It is unclear from the description of the
samples tested whether the"rinsed residue" is obtained from LOC-treated or untreated ore. This significantly
affects the interpretation of the test results, so a specific explanation of how the samples were obtained is necessary.
Second, while DMG is not disagreeing with these test results at this time,we feel that further explanation of all
listed issues must be submitted prior to our office making any comment on how adding the processes so far
described will effect the existing permit or reclamation bond. This review of the submitted tests is being done
simply to determine if they would be applicable to the circumstances cited. Before any backfilling of the site
occurs,a revision to the permit, which would include the complete testing procedures, must be submitted to DMG.
If you have any further questions, please contact me at(303)866-3567.
Sincerely, [
Christina L.
