One was a standard test with the selected rock placed so as
to fall in a natural manner onto the surface of the 80 mil Very Low Density Polyethylene liner.
The results of that test are attached. The other test is to be a "biased" test with the rock
carefully placed with its tip pointed downward, a position that appears impossible for the rock
to actually fall because of its shape and center of gravity. Therefore the test is characterized as
"biased." The results of that test are not yet available.
The standard test was performed at 300 psi, which is approximately equivalent to 375 feet of
Cresson ore. The liner was underlain by Ironclad soil liner and overlain by the rock and drain
cover fill. No unacceptable damage occurred to the liner. No holes were created. The rock
fell with its largest side on the liner, as would be expected.
The attached report from David Kidd of Golder Associates also provides color pictures of the
test, including pictures showing the orientation of the rock.
