As of this date, I need to survey and identify the volume of material from the
former tipple area which needs to be removed. Unfortunately, spring weather has not been
cooperative. I anticipate completing field measurements late this week or early next week and
submitting a revision to CDMG by Apri128, 1995.
In general the plan for compliance with the Board and Mr. Eilts wishes is anticipated to be as
follows. The weather station and ventilation fan will be dismantled and removed off-site to a
scrap or approved disposal facility. The crusher pit witl be drilled (blasted if necessary) and
collapsed on itself. Gravel from the former tipple area will be used as backfill for the crusher
pit. The concrete portion of the coal recovery tunnel will be collapsed on itself. The coal
recovery tunnel and crusher pit areas will be backfilled to topography consistent with the
surrounding area and seeded, consistent with the light industrial land use. The work will be
accomplished during the 1995 summer construction season.
If you have any questions please contact me or Bryan Archer. If you or other DMG personnel
would like to visit the site in conjunction with my field work, I will accommodate them to the
extent possible.
Sincerely,
~~
Michael S.
