Appendix A
Cultural Resources
1. Clear map of the mine plan area with all the sites, localities and
isolated finds correctly denoted. On the same or another map the sites
and their locations in regards to potential surface disturbance activities
need to be plotted.
2. The Staley - Gordon Mine must be documented and evaluations be made as to
its National Register eligibility.
3. A number of sites require testing to determine register eligibility -
what is the current status of these .sites? Have they been tested? Are
they in areas of proposed surface disturbance? (See ACR B1 -pg 10)
4. Site forms for sites recorded by Pioneer Archaeological Consultants (1978)
are needed. (e.g. 5RB854, 855, 856 etc.)
5. A list of all mine plan sites, localities and isolated finds should be
developed indicating their current register status, disturbance status
(surface modifications, potential subsidence, indirect impacts) and the
approximate date of the disturbance if possible.
6. Need eligibility assessments for all of the sites in the mine plan.
The Colorado SHPO has refused to review these findings until a request for
concurrence with eligibility assessments and mitigating measures proposed
for all recorded sites is made (ACR B3 -pg. 11)
