w •
' . MINING AND RECLAMATION PLAN
MT. GUNNISON NO. l MINE
2.8.2.1 Groundwater Level

October, 1979
Revised March, L931
Revised August 28, 1981
Revised January 25, 1982
Revised February 5, 1982
Monitoring of the groundwater levels at the 17 observation wells has been
conducted. Monthly visits to the sites are made to record the static water level in
each of the wells. Location of the groundwater monitoring stations is shown in
Exhibit 2.8.1.C. The water level variation with time for each of the wells is shown
in Tables 2.8.2.A through 2.8.2. U. Well completions for the First Five Year Mine
Plan are shown in Tables 2.8.2-U1 through 2.8.2.-U4.
2.8.2.2 Groundwater Quality
A water sample was taken from the Sylvester Gulch Test Adit on May 29, 1980.
Table 2.8.2 presents the results of the analysis of this sample.
Wells completed into the Barren ~\lember above the "F" seam coal were completed
and open to many different sands. Using this data and the elevations of known
springs, a composite water level map .vas prepared for the Barren Member over the
lease block (Exhibit 2.8.2.A). As expected due to the topography and the
discontinuous nature of the sands and perched aquifers, the map shows that water
levels in the Barren Member correlate closely with changes in topography.

2-303aS
n
