MCC is curcently trying to schedule a contractor to be available next week to do this
work.
The cracks in the roads are located on Jumbo Mountain in Section 24. MCC is curcently longwall
mining in this area. As you are aware, the slopes in this area are generally steep and naturally
unstable and prone to landslides. Subsidence due to mining may have accelerated the landslides.
Please be aware that mining in this area has not been completed; therefore, subsidence in the area
remains a possibility. It is likely that the roads may require additional maintenance in the future,
which MCC will do as long as its subsidence and mining related. We request your assistance in
informing MCC as to the condition of the road as mining continues. Once MCC makes the
repairs next week, you should be able to utilize the road; however, caution should be heeded and
if possible other routes should be taken, as the potential for additional cracks to appear is likely
due the general instability of the area.
MCC trusts that performing the repairs on your road next week will be convenient for you.
Please contact Norm Every so we can arcange our contractor to be on site. MCC wants to work
with you in making repairs to your road. We look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
~~~
Phil G.
