The operation lies in Boulder County near the
towns of Gold Hill and Summerville. I live 1 - 2 miles
downstream of the mine and mill in the town of Summerville.
I and several of my neighbors have observed unusually high
levels of water in the creek which lies below and is directly fed
by the drainage of the Cash operation. This creek is seasonal
and is usually dry. Specifically on or about July 1st and
October 25 there was unusually high levels of water in the creek.
The levels were high enough that my neighbors were concerned that
if the water level continued to increase, the creek might
overflow its banks. A simple break in a pumping line would
probably not account for that quantity of water.
Generally, there has been water in the creek most of the
Summer and Fall. It has tended to flow in the mornings while
being dry in the afternoons. This would tend to rule out natural
drainage.
I request that you visit the mine and
and soil samples from the creek and mines.
the investigation I would appreciate a copy
copy to the Gold Hill Town Meeting.
cc: Gold Hill Town Meeting, Inc.
mill site, take water
Upon completion of
of your report with a
Sincerely,
Evan eirich
