Attempting to control the normal growth pat-
tern of species seeded to the extent requested may result in problems.
Indeed, we would like to have adequate diversity but I can potent-
ially envision an irradication of a productive usable species just to
meet the diversity criteria. Possibly some more discussion on this
matter is warranted.
'v~ In regard to density I will only agree to tempt to reestablish
~~ woody plant density so that the reclaimed density (mean ± variance)
_/ ~ is imcluded in the confidence interval proposed, i.e., 3770 + ].700.
3j_
~"~,,,~~ , For Stipulation 17, data on the alkali sage area has been coll-
ected. Weighing and analyses of vegetation is proceeding. I hope
we will have a report to you by September 30, 1982 or shortly after.
Stipulation 20 has been addressed. Please refer to my letter of
December 30, 1981 to you. ~~_ ~I ~,;~ Sau~~_
I will be available to meet with you to discuss the above comments
on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday the week of September 20, 1982. After
this I will not be in town until the last week in October.
~i1~o~~o~il5
~L~~tq ~r14 ~ I .
S>~'ncL
David M.
