AI! access routes and dri!! pads for the current exploration season (1999) were
flagged in the field for BLM review. If a proposed route or pad location would pose
unnecessary consequences to a protected resource then the route or pad would be moved
to a suitable location.
In the Section 14 stipulations of the Coal Exploration License seven drill holes were
identified which the pad or access to the pad came inclose proximity to known cultural
resources. During 1999 BME will be drilling at four of these locations (310128-9, -]0, -
l land 310120-7). These pad sites and associated access routes were flagged by BME
and inspected by the BML. By limiting disturbances to these routes and pad sites as
inspected and approved by the BLM the cultural resources identified in Section 14 will be
avoided.
Access routes and drill pads for subsequent yeazs will receive the same flagging and
BLM inspection and approval protocol as in the 1999 exploration season prior to
disturbance.
If you have any questions please call me at 970-675-4322.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Scott Wanstedt
Environmental Engineer
cc: Max McCoy -BLM
Jeff Dubbert -BME
Murari Shrestha - WFA
George O'Hara - WFA
