~~
1
MANAGEMENT SiJMD7ARY
•
On November 12, 1996, Alpine Archaeological Consultants, Inc. of Montrose, Colorado, con-
ducted ahistorical significance evaluation of standing structures at the Camp Bird Mine (50R65)
near the town of Ouray, Colorado. The work was conducted under contract to Camp Bird Colorado,
Inc. of Salt Lake City, Utah, through J. M. Beck & Associates of Lakewood, Colorado. The inventory
of the structures at the site wa:~ necessary before reclamation activities at the mine, which may affect
the buildings, are undertaken. Evaluation of the buildings at the site is specified in an approved
reclamation plan for the site. Seven historic structures from the mining era of the Camp Bird Mine
were identified at the site. These should be avoided by impacts related to reclamation of the site. If
avoidance is not possible, additional documentation of the structures should be carried out prior to
their being impacted.
ii
