IN OUR INTERNATIONAL TRADE CURRICULUM, THE <br />STUDENTS WILL LEARN TO MARTO:T ON THE GLOBAL INTER-NET. <br />OUR FIRM, AND OUR ACADEMY IS INTERESTED IN PARTNERING WITH <br />OUR GOVERNMENT IN DEVELOPING TWO PROJECTS TO PROVE THE VALUE <br />OF ECOLONOMICS IN BOTH IMPROVING THE ENVIRONMENT AND THE <br />ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES FOR ENTREPRENEURS OF ALL AGES. <br />ONE OF OUR PROPOSED PROJECTS WOULD BE UNDER THE.DIRECTZON OF <br />DR_ PETER JENRINS, DEAN OF .ENGINEERING AND APPLIED SCIENCES <br />AT THE UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO AT DENVER. OUR PROJECT WOULD <br />DEVELOP THE IISIi OF TWO NEW TECHNOLOGIES TO POTENTIALLY <br />ELIMINATE T8E NEED FOR A TAILINGS POND AT & COLORADO GOLD <br />MILL FACILITY: SIMPLY, WE WOULD INCORPORATE THE USfi OF A <br />SOPHISTICATED WATER TREATMENT PROCESS ,. AND THE TECHNOLOGY FOR <br />CREATING AN ALTERNATIVE BUILDING BRICK, TO PROVIDE FOR RE- <br />CIRCULATING THE MILL PROCESS WATER, AND USING TEE WASTE <br />MATERIAL TO CREATE A NEW PRODUCT AND ADDITIONAL REVENUE <br />STREAM. THE IMPACT .ON THE MINING INDUSTRY COULD BE VERY <br />DRAMATIC_ DR. SECOND PROJECT INVOLVfiS TfiE USE OF A TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPED <br />AT BATTELLE NORTHWEST LABORATORY IN RIC$LAND, USING GLASS <br />MELTING FURNACES TO CLASSIFY, (VITRIFY) WASTE. THE METHODS <br />WERE ORIGINALLY INTENDED TO TURN HIGH-LEVEL RADIOACTIVE <br />WASTES INTO GLASS, .WHICH CAN THEN 8E STORED WITHOUT DANGER OF <br />RADIOACTIVE MATERIALS LEACHING INTO THE GROUNDWATER. <br />HOWEVER, VITRIFICATION CAN BE USED ON MANY <br />STREAMS, SUCH AS MUNICIPAL SOLID WASTE, IN <br />CAFMTCALLy F7a~aunOIIS~WASTES,.WITH THE SAME <br />NON-LEACHING GLASS THAT. CAN BE TURNfiD'INTO <br />LIKE GARDEN TILES,.PAVING BRICK FILLER FOR <br />AND GLASS WOOL FOR INSULATION. <br />OTHER WASTE <br />:INERATOR ASH, AND <br />BENEFICIAL RESDLT; <br />USEFUL PRODUCTS <br />ASPHALT ROAD BEDS <br />THIS WOULD 8$ AN EXCELLENT TECHNOLOGY FOR SUPERFUND SITES, A <br />PORTABLE OR SEMIPERMANENT MELTER COULD BE USED TO RENDER <br />CONTAMINATED SOIL COMPLETELY SAFE, AND TURN IT INTO SALABLE <br />PRODUCTS.
