Long
Division Director
Following our discussion during my July inspection visit, I have developed the
following summary of my understanding of the drilling activities during the
1990-1993 (present) period. Where applicable, I have indicated information
which the Division requires.
Hole 89-009 (A on Mao 38)
An attempt was made to locate this site in the field but this attempt was
unsuccessful. The Division is assuming the site was abandoned and reclaimed.
No abandonment report is available. Please file an abandonment report as
required by rule 4.07.3(3).
Hole 89-008 (B on Map 38)
Same comments apply as A above.
Hole 89-007 (C on Map 38)
This site was found in the field. It was reclaimed and the reclamation work
looked very good. The well casing is still sticking out of the ground but the
well appeared to have been grouted. As per our discussion, the casing should
be cut off below ground and the hole filled and remaining area seeded. No
abandonment report could be located. Please file an abandonment report as
required by Rule 4.07.3(3).
Hole 89-010 (D on Mao 38)
This hole is the site of U.S. Bureau of Mines extensometer. This equipment
still remains at the site inside a small house. My understanding is that the
responsible parties were to remove the equipment during the 1993 field
season. If and when that happens, this site will need reclamation and the
proper abandonment reports filed within 60 days of reclamation.
