Therefore, a complete evaluation of the mine area wells can not be
completed by May 15. We propose to submit the revised ground water
monitoring plan for monitoring the lower and upper coal units by June 15,
1987 and request an extension of the date stipulated.
Prior to the evacuation of standing water from the wells, water levels
will be determined and samples will be collected for analysis of the
following parameters: pH, temperature, electrical conductivity, calcium,
sodium, carbonate, sulfate, and hydroxide. These parameters were selected
because elevated concentrations would indicate the presence of grout
dissolved in the water.
The wells will then be blown
standing water. As soon as
sampling, samples will be
parameters again. The wells
recharge, and sampled for
monitoring plan.
out with compressed nitrogen to remove all
water levels indicate sufficient volume for
collected and analyzed for the indicator
will then be blown out again, allowed to
the complete list of parameters in the
2784h/1
