exhaust discharge will be monitored to assure .-compliance with EPA standards
regulating radon emissions from underground uranium .mines. .
Ore Deposit Information
Minable mineralization on the C-SR-11 lease block occurs within the
upper or top rim portion of the Salt Wash Member of the Jurassic Morrison
Formation. On the property, ore bodies within this unit range between
150 and 500 feet in depth, averaging about 4.5 feet thick and lay within
a northeast-southwest trending "belt". Mineralization occurs through-
out the rock unit, but is mostly concentrated within the lower portions.
The top rim is underlaid by approximately 30 feet of mudstone.
Operation Timetable
The applicability of a timetable to an underground operation such
as this is questionable. During the early stages of operations, the
affected acreage will not apreciably increase after the initial distur-
bance around the portal area. Small amounts of additional acreage will
be involved as the waste dump expands and the ventilation bore hole is
upreamed. As all the affected acreage is utilized during the mining
operation, no significant reclamation can begin until the mine is closed.
Expected mine life is approximately nine to ten years with ore production
expected to be 34,000 tons per year. However, Cotter Corporation requests
this application be approved as an "intermittent" operation with periods
of inactivity in excess of 180 days. As the market for uranium and/or
vanadium dictates, the mine may operate continuously at full or partial
capacity under the permitted mining plan for unknown lengths of time or
it may be maintained in a "ready" state for periods in excess of 180 days.
-6-
