out of any wetland area. Wetlands are areas that are inundated
or saturated by surface or ground water at a frequency and
duration sufficient to support, and under normal circumstances do
support, a prevalence of vegetation typically adapted for life in
saturated soil conditions. Wetlands generally include swamps,
marshes, bogs and similar areas. Some typical plants found in
wetlands include sedges, rushes, bullrushes, cattails and
willows.
c. Destruction of riparian or riverine vegetation, especially
mature growth riparian trees, shall be avoided. When work
authorized by this permit causes damage to riparian vegetation
that is not directly covered by a permanent feature, these
scarred areas shall be revegetated with a mixture of native
trees, shrubs and grasses. Seeding and sprigging of native
trees, shrubs and grasses is highly recommended and advantageous
to further stabilize streambanks. For further information on
revegetation, contact your local Soil Conservation Service office
or the Corps of Engineers.
d. This permit does not authorize discharges of dredged or fill
material associated with channel straightening or cutting off of
meanders.
e. Any activity authorized under this permit shall not
jeopardize a threatened oz endangered species as indentified
under the Endangered Species Act or destroy or adversely modify
the critical habitat of such species. When appropriate, the
Corps of Engineers will consult with the U. S. Fish and Wildlife
Service on specific requests to perEozm work under this RGP when
a project may affect a threatened or endangered species.
f. Only clean material free of waste metal products, organic
materials, unsightly debris, etc. may be used for discharges
authorized under this RGP.
g. All instream work should be performed during low water
periods and use of heavy equipment in streambeds, especially in
live or flowing water, should be minimized.
h. Any work constructed under the authority of this RGP should
not limit the ability of any existing diversion structure to
appropriate water or adversely impact a gaging station.
i. Approval to perEozm work under this RGP does not obviate or
make unnecessary the requirements of other Federal, state or local
permitting authorities. For example, the Bureau of Land Manage-
ment should be contacted regarding work on public lands and
similarly, approval from your local County government may be
required in accordance with local zoning or floodplain regulations.
x:txx:t:,exx~ex,e~xx*x,tt::xet::~t,r,-x*,rt:sex:xs,ex,tx*x,exxx,e~xxxixx,e,~exxxx•
THIS REGIONAL GENERAL PERMIT IS ALSO SUBJECT TO THE ATTACHED LIST
OF STANDARD CONDITIONS. ~ C ^ ~~~~
s JAN c ~saa
MINED LAi~~
RECLAMATION DIVfS~ON
