(C) The operator shall comply with all Federal and state
requirements for dredge and fill. There are no anticipated
requirements for this type of activity.
(D) The operator will remove and regrade all sediment and
siltation structures after mining is completed.
' Wildlife
All aspects of the mining and reclamation plan will take into
' account the safety and protection of wildlife on the site.
The operation in reclaimed condition will provide very similar
' wildlife habitat to that currently present on the site. During
the mining, effects to wildlife will be minimized by the phased
mining and reclamation activities. The phasing provides for no
more than 70 acres of the 1,606 acre site to be disturbed at any
' one time, of which no more than 33 acres will be major
disturbance, and only 13 acres of which will be current mining.
In addition, the provision of a minimum 500' setback for mining
activity from the. permit boundary keeps substantial wildlife
habitat and creek migration corridors intact.
( The property is not unique within the local area for wildlife
activities. The surrounding area is almost completely
undeveloped. Peak production and activity periods at the mining
and plant areas would be heavily concentrated in the summer and
' early fall months, while critical area wildlife life cycle
periods would tend to be in the spring. Enhancement and creation
of wildlife habitat is not a specific goal of this operation.
Please refer to Exhibit H for a complete discussion of wildlife.
Toasoilino
The existing topsoil on the property consists of a 0 to 6 inch
layer of sandy silty loam. The maiority of grass roots are
' contained within the top 12 inches of soil. Ali topsoil will be
stripped prior to mining and stockpiled. Stockpiles which remain
in place longer than one growing season will be seeded with a
' fast growing cover to minimize wind and water erosion. Handling
of Lopsoil will be minimized by efficient sequencing of mining
and reclamation through phases.
After mining has passed through an area, non-marketable
overburden material will be replaced at an even depth and graded.
Topsoil will be evenly redistributed atop the overburden and
final grading will ensue. Fertilizer and mulch will be utilized
as recommended by SCS on the accompanying sheet.
' E-5
