E
S carcoma•~r Seneca Coal Company
July ls, 2006
RECEIVED
Mr. Mike Boulay l
Division of Minerals and Geology JUL 2 0 2006
1313 Sherman St, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203 DICIBIptI of Minerals S Geology
(303) 866-3567
RE: Seneca II Mine (Permit No. 61980-005)
Interaeeding -Seed Mix
Deaz Mr. Boulay,
Seneca Coal Company (SCC) has physically observed and reviewed revegetation success in select portions of azeas
originally seeded in 1997, 1998 and 1999 and derided that the revegetation success for cover and production is limited
due to poor stand establishment and therefore will interseed/reseed these areas during the fall of 2006. These azeas aze
shown on the attached map, 2006 Interseeding & Chronological Revegetation.
The attached seed mix is to be used as an interseeding mix in previously revegetated areas that have a low established
perennial vegetative cover but a fair presence and diversity of perennial spedes, particularly fortis. Since these azeas
typically have lower perennial grass cover than more successful revegetated azeas, the interseeding mix contains
predominately native perennial grasses. Mountain big sagebmsh and snowberry have been added to increase woody
density.
Portions of 1997, 1998 and 1999 seeded blocks aze included in the azeas to be intetseeded. This mix may be used to
intetseed other azeas with similar characteristics in the future.
Enclosed ate two (2) copies of the seedmix and the location map for your review. This information will be submitted
as part of the 2006 Annual Reclamation Report If them aze questions or commenu, please contact me (Roy Kazo @
(970) 846-3648) ox Vern Pfannenstiel @ (928) 677-5129.
Sincerely,
Roy A.
