Northern
Pueblo, CO 81004
subject: Lamar Utilities Board
West Wells Operating Plan
Dear Bob:
The Lamar Utilities Board
new wells, Nos. 21 and 22, in April
wells (Nos. 24034-F and 24035-F) re
produced from the wells be measured
cooling use. The well permits far these
luire that the water which is
and returned to the aquifer after
feet per year must be returned
loss during recharge.
The operating plan for these two wells and the recharge
operation will be based upon an operating year, commencing on April 1st.
Each well and the recharge pipeline will be equipped with a totalizing
meter. The total pumping amounts for each meter will be furnished to
the Division Engineer and Water Commissioner on March 31st of each year.
The recharge total will equal the sum of the water produced from Wells
No. 21 and 22, plus 20 acre feet in each year.
To allow fot flexibility in operation of the wells and because
of possible temperature constraints upon the recharge operatiw~, the
recharge and well pumpage will not necessarily coincide during the year,
but will be in balance by the end of the operating year. This manner
of operating Wells No. 21 and 22 will allow for the addition of the
water pumped during the summer months to be added to the priority system
by discharge to the Lamar Canal to satisfy surface decrees. Ai:ter
operating experience is gained with the recharge operation, they Utilities
Board will file an action with the Water Court to get a decree for the
operating plan.
