Suite 3120 <br />Denver, CO 80202-3404 <br />Deaz Ms. StcwarC <br />Enclosed is a table showing the field parameters measured as required by the Colorado Division of Minerals and Gcolog}• for the <br />required quancrly sampling of the monitoring wells at the Gold Hill Mill. These samples were taken by Environmental <br />Investigations, inc. as an objective third party. Also, per your request, a description of the sampling event follows. <br />Description of Sampling F.vent: <br />On Moch 28, 1998 wells one (1) through four (41 were measured for depth to groundwater. On March 31, 1998 all <br />wells were capped and locked upon our arrival. We attznrpted to purge the wells of three casing volumes to collect <br />samples represeitfativc of the groundwater in these wells Tltese sis t67 inch caging wells would require purging of <br />w substantial quantities in order to properly take the samples Attempts [o purge the wells through a siphon system <br />were unsuccessful, in part due to inclement conditions at the site. As a result, samples were taken of the water <br />standing in the iron casings. A decontaminate) l'zllun hand bailer wish a v-uMCh [op was plunged into [hc water <br />surface and dropped as rapidly as possible through the water column in an attempt to allow depth imegration of the <br />sample in hopes of collecting a sample more representative of nvcrell well conditions <br />The edit sample was a grab sample collected approximatzly 50 feet into the adit behind the bulkhead, which was full <br />az the time of sample collection. Also, a duplicate sample was taken at this rime. <br />The collection pond sample was a greb sample taken by the inflow pipe, wh~clt was Flowing at the time of collection, <br />as the rzmainder of the pond was covered in ice. <br />The grab samples et Lefl Hand Creek were taken just ahovt the bridge at Lick Skillet Road. <br />Samples at all sites were collected in Iwo (2) bottles prepared by Hazen Research Inc. laboratory. The sample bottles <br />were picked up at the lab the morning of the sampling event. All samples were immedis[ely placed in a cooler <br />packed with snow as collected and returned to thz lab the following day as pzr lab direction. <br />Also enclosed is the Chain of Custody Record (via marled copy of this lance only).
