It was noted that the samples were collected on the <br />28th of December, 1984, but not received by the lab until April 9, 1985. In <br />addition, the lab did not finish its analysis until May 1, 1985. As you can <br />see in the enclosed EPA document many parameters have a 24 hour or seven day <br />holding time. Results from samples which have been held for four months are <br />of no value. You should take whatever steps which are necessary to ensure <br />that samples taken from the mine site in the future are delivered to a <br />laboratory within the appropriate holding times. In the future, failure to do <br />so may result in the issuance of a notice of violation for failure to follow <br />water monitoring requirements of your permit. <br />If you have any questions please contact me. <br />Sincerely, <br />Gregg R.
