The present-day photograph shows the center rafter <br />pole on the upper floor slightly higher than the <br />rafter poles on either side (Photograph 2). <br />6. The historical photograph clearly shows a gutter <br />located under the roof drain scuppers on the south <br />side of the second floor roof (Photograph 1). <br />This gutter was connected to a downspout on the <br />west end of the second floor, and appears to have <br />carried water to the north. The gutter is no <br />longer present (Photograph 3). <br />7. Inspection of the foundation from the crawl space <br />under the structure by J. D. Reins (a consultant <br />for the Tatums, MKA Inc.), and others have <br />indicated no visible disruption of the structure's <br />foundation. <br />8. The railroad which passes over the 1 North mining <br />entry in the area of potential maxim~,im subsidence <br />shows no indication of subsidence and has not <br />required more than normal maintenance (information <br />from Pendleton, and Rosenthal, obtained from the <br />railroad maintenance company). <br />Data Collection <br />To evaluate the potential for mining-related subsidence to <br />impact the surface at or near the Tatum Residence, the <br />following information was used: <br />1. Obtained from Basin Resources, Inc.: <br />a. Mine map dated 5-8-95; scale 1"=400 feet, <br />includes dates of mining and geologic <br />structure on the coal seam. <br />b. Topographic map, titled Maxwell Mine, date <br />1977. <br />c. Subsidence survey-3RD North area, dates <br />3/21/88 to 12/13/94. <br />d. Drill logs from the Picketwire Valley of the <br />Purgatorire River. <br />2. Obtained from Colorado Division of Minerals and <br />Geology: <br />2 <br />
