Box 187
Craig, CO 81626
RE: DOW/USFWS Comments on Yoast Mine Permit Application
Dear Mr. Luke:
II~~~
DEPARTMENT OF
NATURAL
RESOURCES
Roy Romer
Governor
lames 5. Lochhead
Ezeculive Director
Michael B. Long
Division Director
Please find enclosed copies of the materials we've received from the Colorado Division
of Wildlife and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service pertaining to mining impacts upon
wildlife. These comments were sent to us in relation to Seneca Coal Company's Yoast
Mine Application.
These were the materials that I wanted to bring to your attention as part of the Mid-Term
Review of the Trapper Mine permit. While these comments pertain specifically to the
Yoast Mine and not to the Trapper Mine, I thought you should be aware of the concerns
these agencies have expressed. Should any of their concerns apply to the Trapper Mine,
then by having these materials, we could work together to address them if necessary.
Please do not hesitate to call us for any further assistance we may provide.
Sincerely,
Daniel I.
