Although this was prior to spring runoff and irrigation <br />diversions, the stream was high and discolored. No fish were sampled dur:irtg the electrofishing <br />survey. This section of stream is impacted by heaw grazing, and f:.uctuations caused by <br />irrigation. Eroding stream banks and silt deposits aze carrion. Deposits of iron oxide and other <br />heaw metals were abundant on the stream substrate. It appears that grazing, fluctuating water <br />levels, and irrigation diversions from the Alamosa River have had a negative impact on the La <br />Jaza Creek fishery in this section. <br /> <br />
