~, ~; ~ ~ ~.
6
Page 2
Mr. Chen
December 23, I980
~.
You indicated that the post-mining land use for the "prospecting pit" area
will be wildlife with some potential for grazing. We discussed the problems
of sediment control and the materials balance question related to backfiZling
this and other pits and we agreed that the use of coal processing waste
materials was not desirable in this pit because of the double complications
of the open underground workings and the re-establishment of Newlin Creek.
I will call Charlie Narrison at OSM to find out how much the SOAP will
provide in terms of information about monitoring groundwater quality.
In conclusion, we agreed that you will submit a revised plan, including a
reclamation time schedule, by January 5, 2481 and we will meet in my office
on January 7, 1981 to discuss any remaining problems. If you have difficulties
with these arrangements or if you disagree with my summarization of our meeting,
please contact me as soon as possible.
Sincerely,
Peter N. Evans
Reclamation Specialist
/k
