Four
transects were measured at Pit 1, three each at Pits 2
and 3, and one each at Pits 4,5 .and 6. Percentage cover
results measuring vegetation, rock, litter and bare ground
showed the following:
Pit No. Percent cover
1 91.75°s
2 .98.66$
3 99.300
4 98.008
5 98.00
6 100.00
The purpose of this letter is to transmit the results of
these transect studies and to alert you .that annroximately
200 sheep may graze the pits during personnel absence from
the mine. The landowner does not have.permission to graze
sheep on the reclaimed areas, but as you know, grazing in-
advertently occurs on the property on an infrequent basis.
Based on the results of the recent transect studies, we
believe no damage will occur if sheep graze the reclaimed
areas. Therefore, to release all parties from liabilities,
we request that sheep be allowed to graze reclaimed areas
at the Grassy Gap Coal Mine.
