Mr. James Cowart
December 17, 1997
Page 5

letter must first be met before using any dump material as
rock cover over the tailings surface. Any offsite sources of
fill material will need to be identified and approved by the
DMG prior to use. If the DMG identifies the offsite material
as being potentially acid forming, material characterization
may be required.
3.4 Land Application System - This task meets the requirements of
the approved reclamation plan.
3.5 As discussed in section 3.3 above, characterization criteria
for borrow source areas were discussed in Allen Sorenson's
letter dated May 19, 1995. The source areas were identified
in the operator's adequacy response letter dated June 1, 1995.
These include an area above the pond embankment, the White
Cloud, Wynona and Oscar mine dumps. Any variations from the
approved characterization criteria and borrow sources must
first be approved by the DMG.
Reclamation of the Wynona waste rock area is discussed in the
operator's letter of June 1, 1995. Reclamation in the borrow
areas must meet the reclamation performance standards of Rule
3.1 of the Hard Rock Rules and Regulations and includes
grading to 3:1, covering with topsoil, and revegetation.
3.6 This is adequate.
3.7 The approved plan requires that all monitoring wells be
properly abandoned. This is discussed in DMG letters and
operator responses between March 27, 1995 and June 1, 1995.
There are additional tasks required in the approved reclamation
plan which have not been addressed in the conceptual plan. These
include the following:
a) Ore Storage Area and Ramp -Regrading to 3:1, addition of
liming agent to acid generating material, covering with
topsoil and revegetation.
b) The operator committed to removing the water supply pipelines
from Left Hand Creek and the Time Mine. If these lines are
adequately buried, the ends can be removed and the lines
