Boulay :,~~ ' ~ ~.:~:^w <br />Division of Minerals and Geology <br />1313 Sherman St., Room 215 <br />Denver, Colorado 80203 <br />RE: Bear Coal Company, Inc. <br />Bear No. 3 Mine <br />Permit C-81-033 <br />Bear No. 3 Reclamation <br />Dear Mr. Boulay; <br />In response to your letter dated December 6, 1996, Bear Coal Company <br />offers the following: <br />Bear Coal Company has competed the removal of mining equipment and <br />other potentially hazardous materials or substances such as chemicals, oil, grease, <br />batteries or any other eyuipmeni that could pose a safety or environmental concern <br />in the mine. After completing this, seals were constructed and completed in all three <br />portals on January 9, 1997. In each of these three seals, pipe has been installed to <br />release any water that could jeopardize the integrity of these seals. <br />As of this date, Bear Coal has removed portions of the main fan, portions of <br />the belt transfer point and the degas facility and assorted equipment on the mine site. <br />It is Bear Coal's desire that all of the structures on the portal bench be removed by <br />summer so as to begin fmal reclamation of the portal bench. <br />
