I believe this event surpassed our ten year twenty-four hour event criteria of 1'-z inches of rain by the amount of water in the ponds. Since nobody is at the mine on a daily basis we do not maintain a rain gauge at the site. We are currently checking with the national weather observer in the area to see if he has any documentation on this event. We are also contacting locals to see if anyone recorded the event. During the event, ditch SF that runs into pond 5 breached at a point where it flattens out. This area filled with sediment and caused the ditch to breach, spilling water into Stolsteimer Creek. Kaiser has diligently been trying to locate a machine to repair this damage. We have procured a machine from Farmington, New Mexico, and the repair should be completed no later than August 25, 1993. Several of our other ditches were damaged during this event, but did not breach. We will repair all the ditches and bring them back up to acceptable condition.
