East Pit-
Fremont County, Colorado, August 12, 1983
Dear Carol:
Enclosed please find one copy of the letter sent to GEC by American West
Mineral Consultants, Inc. (AWMCI) indicating that an error of 32,000 cu.
yds. was made and found by GEC during the preparation of the East Pit
volume calculations. However, due to the assumptions used by AWMCI was
based on U.S.G.S., 7.5 minute Rockvale, Colorado, topographic map, and the
gradient of the intermittent stream bed, which was not in compliance with
the approved post-mining contour map in the East Pit area. A re-evaluation
was made by GEC by using the modified post-mining information to eliminate
most of the unnecessary cut for the backfilling of the East Pit, resulting
in a volume of 357,143 cu. yds. rather than 725,000 cu. yds..
Should you have any questions regarding the above matter, please let me know.
Sincerely y u s,
L.K. en
VP-Mine Planning/Engineering
LKC:deMc
Enclosure
cc: S.
