UENj, ,Qf Fi?i.~;~41I ~e$.ri U~C6:, <br />As discussed with you on December 16, 1985, Colorado Yampa Coal Company (CYCC) <br />is experiencing elk damage to the hay check dams placed in the permanent gul- <br />lies. Due to the large number of small check dams constructed of spoil <br />material, the value of the hay check dams is not known at this time. In <br />addition, access to many of gullies at this time of year is very poor. There- <br />fore, CYCC proposes to wait until this spring and then evaluate the situation. <br />If it is apparent that additional check dams are necessary to control exces- <br />sive erosion, some alternatives will be proposed at that time. <br />Sincerely, <br />Terrell K.
