Approximately 50 to 75 acres are
revegeiated annually at the Seneca Ftine and this level is
expected to continue in 1991. The shrub and tree plantings
will be conducted in the same manner as the past several
years. Planting sites will be identified prior to permanent
seeding in order to maximize selection of desirable
microsites and planting locations. The planting locations
will not be seeded in order to reduce herbaceous
competition. Seedlings are being grown by Bitterroot Native
Growers of Hamilton, Montana from genetic stock originating
in the region surrounding the Seneca Mine. Deer-Away
repellant will be used on all planted seedlings to reduce
browse damage. Plantings will be in the fall.
