Box E
Paonia, Colorado 81428

Re: Species Diversity Stipulation
to Orchard Valley Permit No.
C-038-81
Dear Ms. Gordon:
The Division has completed its review of the Harner & Associates Inc.
Species Diversity Recommendations submitted February 14, 1983 in response
to Stipulation No. 15.
The Division agrees with the proposal recommended by CWI. The species
diversity standard agreed upon is as follows:
1) There are at least five native perennial herbaceous species (four native
coal season grasses and one native forb) which have a relative cover or
production equal to or greater than 3°6 each.
2) There are at least two native shrub species which no one exceeds a
relative density of 80%.
3) The five herbaceous species combined will not exceed 90% in relative
cover or production and anyone of the five species will not exceed 60% in
relative importance.
This standard will be reflected in the Division's proposed decision on
CWI's Permit Revision request. Stipulation No. 15 is hereby resolved.
Thank you for your cooperation in resolving this matter.
Sincerely, -
~,
Robert G.
